Getting to Augusta

I-20 runs north of Augusta, the local airport sits south of downtown, and the Savannah River bridges connect the Georgia core with North Augusta.

Augusta Regional Airport (AGS)

AGS is the local commercial airport south of downtown. Check current airline schedules, rental-car hours, ground transportation, and parking directly with the airport.

Atlanta and Columbia

Atlanta offers the broadest flight network but adds a substantial I-20 drive. Columbia is closer by road for some itineraries, with a smaller flight schedule.

I-20 and the river crossings

I-20 supplies the main Atlanta-Columbia corridor north of downtown. Downtown drivers cross between Georgia and South Carolina on local Savannah River bridges; use live traffic for construction and incidents.

After arrival

Downtown sights can cluster into a walk, but the canal headgates, Summerville, west-Augusta hotels, public golf, and the airport still favor a car or rideshare.

Riverwalk, museums, Broad Street, and dinner fit one compact core

A downtown hotel or well-chosen parking space can cover the Riverwalk, Morris Museum, Augusta Museum of History, Broad Street landmarks, theaters, and dinner on foot. Distances are manageable, but heat, rain, construction, accessibility needs, and nighttime comfort still affect the route.
